Reluctantly stealing ourselves away from Tathra a couple of weeks ago, on a friend's recommendation we stopped in at the Bega Valley Regional Heart Gallery to look at their I HEART PAINT exhibition.


It's great that regional galleries can mount exhibitions of this quality. Most of the works consisted of vivid and lavish servings of paint on mostly representational art. Particularly stunning was Alesandro Ljubicic’s huge “Tiffany through the branches No.2” (triptych, 2018 - see first picture below) as well as some great Ben Quilty offerings. Second photo below is a detail of Quilty's

“Cullen - Before and After” (2006). Just feast your eyes on that combination of expert placement of colour and gobs of paint.
